Alternative Payment Models and Primary Care in the United States and Canada

Topic Overview

Many forms of Alternative Payment Models have been tested in the past 5-10 years in the United States and Canada. This event was designed to highlight these innovations as well as:

  • Highlight a critical and timely healthcare issue in both countries – shared concerns over efficiency and effectiveness–how to deliver higher quality without higher costs
  • Share the emerging evidence regarding successful or not-so-successful approaches to payment reform
  • Identify the challenges, barriers and opportunities for implementing payment reform
  • dentify the key ingredients needed in order to facilitate payment reform
